What we collect when you use Learners HQ, why, who else sees it, and how to have it corrected or deleted.

The short version

  • We keep what you give us, such as your name, email and payout details, and a record of how you use Learners HQ.
  • Card payments and identity checks are handled by Stripe. We never see your full card number.
  • When you buy a product, its creator sees your name, your email and how far you have got through it.
  • If you ask to be told when a product is released, the store selling it sees your email address.
  • Your notes on a video are private to you.
  • Google Analytics, our year-long visitor cookie and any advertising tools a store has added only run if you accept cookies. Reject is remembered.
  • Email privacy@learnershq.com to see, correct or delete your information.

10 sections

1Who we are and what this covers

Learners HQ Ltd ("Learners HQ", "we", "us") runs a platform where creators sell videos, audio and downloads to customers, through their own stores, storefronts and landing pages and through our marketplace.

This policy covers our websites and the platform itself, whether you are browsing without an account, buying as a customer or selling as a creator. It does not cover a creator's own website or anything a creator does with your information outside Learners HQ.

Some stores are shown at a creator's own domain, such as shop.theirname.com. Those pages are still run by Learners HQ, and this policy covers them exactly as it covers learnershq.com: the domain is only the address.

Our terms explain the rules for using Learners HQ. This policy sits alongside them.

2What we collect

What you give us

  • Your account details: name, email address and password. If you sign in with another service, such as Google, LinkedIn, Discord or Twitch, we receive your name and email address from it instead of a password, and for Google the number Google uses for your account. Nothing else: not your posts, your contacts or your friends.
  • What you buy: each purchase and subscription, its price, its currency and its dates.
  • If you sell: your store and product details, and the account we pay you into. That is a bank account (name, bank, sort code or routing number, account number, IBAN and address), a PayPal email or a Wise email, plus your payout currency.
  • What you write on the platform: reviews, messages to creators, your notes on videos, and anything you send us through the contact form, including a social media profile if you give one.

What we record when you use Learners HQ

  • How far you have watched or listened to each video and audio file in a product you own, so you can carry on where you left off.
  • Visits to storefronts, product pages and checkouts: the page, where you came from, any campaign in the link, your device type and your country. Creators see these as totals in their statistics.
  • Technical information our servers log, such as your IP address, browser and error reports.
  • When something goes wrong on a page, or you use Report a problem: the page, your account if you are signed in, your browser and screen size, the last few things you pressed or opened on that page, and the error. Never what you typed into a form, your password or your card details. A report also carries what you write and any screenshots or files you choose to attach. We use this only to find and fix the problem.
  • Your country, worked out on our own servers from your IP address, to show prices in your currency and to count visits by country. Your IP address is not sent to anyone for this and is not stored with the result. If you choose a currency yourself, a small cookie remembers it. Country data: IP Geolocation by DB-IP.

What we get from others

  • From Stripe: whether a payment succeeded, and, for creators who verify their identity, whether the check passed.
  • From a referral link: if you joined through somebody's link, we record who referred you.

We do not ask for your date of birth. We do not store card numbers.

3What we use it for
  • To run your account and give you the products you bought, including remembering your place in them.
  • To take payments and renew subscriptions, and to email you a receipt for every payment and a warning if one fails.
  • To pay creators what they have earned and show them their earnings and statistics.
  • To answer you when you contact us.
  • To keep the platform secure, stop fraud and spam, and deal with reports and disputes.
  • To understand how the platform is used and improve it.
  • To send you news about Learners HQ. Every such email has a link to unsubscribe.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
4Who we share it with

The creators you buy from

When you buy a product, the sale is between you and its creator, so they see your name and email address. They also see your progress through their product as a percentage, so they can help you and improve it. They do not see your notes. If you message a creator, they see your message.

If you ask to be told when a product is released, we send you one email when it is out, and the store selling it receives your email address and may contact you about that product.

A creator may also send their customers' details to tools they choose to connect, such as an email service or an automation tool. Those tools are the creator's responsibility. Only people who bought, claimed something free, joined a creator's list or asked to hear when a product is released are ever sent; somebody who only looked is not.

Everyone

A store, its storefront and its products are public. A review you leave shows your first name only, although the product's creator sees your full name next to it.

The companies that help us run Learners HQ

  • Stripe processes payments and subscriptions and receives your name and email with them. It also runs identity checks for creators: a photo of an ID document and a selfie, which go to Stripe, not to us.
  • Mailchimp Transactional (Mandrill) sends our emails: receipts, password resets, welcome emails and replies. It receives your name, your email address and the content of the email.
  • Google provides sign-in with Google, reCAPTCHA (which checks that a form is filled in by a person) and Google Analytics, which only runs if you accept cookies.
  • ExchangeRate-API gives us currency exchange rates. Nothing about you is sent to it.

A store's own advertising tools

A creator can add their own measuring code from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, TikTok or Pinterest to their store, its product pages and its landing pages, to see how well their adverts work. It only runs if you choose Accept on the cookie notice. Those companies then receive that you visited the page, started a checkout or bought, with the product, price and currency, and set their own cookies under their own policies. We do not send them your name or email address. The creator, not Learners HQ, decides to use these tools.

Some pages built by creators embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo, which then apply their own policies.

Creators' videos, audio and files stay on our own servers. They are not sent to any other company to be processed.

We do not sell your information. We may share it where the law requires us to, or to protect our users or the platform.

5Cookies and similar technology

We use a small number of cookies of our own. The visitor cookie, Google Analytics and a store's own advertising tools are used only if you choose Accept on the cookie notice; the rest are needed for the platform to work.

  • Your session. Keeps you logged in as you move around the platform.
  • lhq_v, only if you accept. A random visitor ID, kept for a year, that lets us count visits to storefronts and product pages without counting you twice. It is not linked to your name. Without it, a visit is counted once per browsing session.
  • lhq_consent. Remembers whether you chose Accept or Reject, for a year, so we do not ask again.
  • lhq_store and a few preference cookies. These remember the store you last worked in, how you like lists shown, and which messages and notifications you have already seen.
  • Google Analytics. Only switched on after you choose Accept. Until then Google's script is not loaded at all.
  • lhq_ads, and a store's own advertising tools. Only on stores whose creator has added them, and only after you choose Accept. lhq_ads remembers your choice for a year; until then the tools are not loaded at all.

Your browser's own storage also holds a few preferences, and the referral code from a referral link. You can clear all of these in your browser's settings. Blocking the session cookie stops you logging in.

On a store's own domain, cookies belong to that domain, so you are asked about them there separately and sign in there separately.

6How long we keep it
  • Your account and what you have bought, for as long as your account is open.
  • Payment records, for as long as tax and accounting law require.
  • Messages between customers and creators are kept after a conversation is closed, because they are the record if a refund is disputed.
  • When an account is deleted, we keep a copy of its name, email address and username, so we can deal with any payment or dispute that comes later and stop an account we closed from being opened again.
  • Reviews stay on the product after an account is deleted, showing a first name only.
  • Error records and problem reports, with any files attached to them, for 90 days, then they are deleted.
7How we protect it

Card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers. Creators' bank account numbers, sort codes, IBANs and addresses are stored encrypted. Passwords are stored as hashes, not as the passwords themselves.

No website can promise that information sent over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep yours safe and to limit who at Learners HQ can see it.

8Your choices and rights
  • See and correct your information. Most of it is in your account. For anything else, ask us.
  • Delete your account. Email us and we will delete it, as Deleting your data explains. A creator's account can only be closed once nobody still has access to its products, as our terms explain.
  • Get a copy of your information. Ask us, and we will send you what we hold about you.
  • Stop marketing emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any of them. Receipts and account emails still arrive, because they are part of the service.
  • Refuse cookies that are not needed. Choose Reject on the cookie notice. To change your mind later, clear this site's cookies and storage in your browser, and the notice asks again.

For any of these, email privacy@learnershq.com from the address on your account.

9Deleting your data

You can have your Learners HQ account and the information in it deleted at any time.

How to ask

  1. Email privacy@learnershq.com from the email address on your account, with "Delete my account" as the subject.
  2. If you no longer use that address, use our contact form, choose "Privacy or my data", and give the address the account was under. We will check the account is yours before deleting anything.
  3. We reply to confirm, and delete the account within 30 days of your request.

If you signed in with Facebook, Google or another service

Deleting your Learners HQ account deletes what that service gave us: your name, your email address and any account number it sent. Removing Learners HQ from that service's own settings (on Facebook, under Apps and websites) stops it sending us anything more, but does not delete what we already hold. To have that deleted too, ask us as above.

What deleting removes, and what stays

  • Your profile, your sign-in, your notes and your access to the products you bought go.
  • A few things stay, for the reasons in How long we keep it: payment records the law says we must keep, a copy of your name, email address and username for any payment or dispute that comes later, and your reviews, showing a first name only.
  • A creator's account can only be closed once nobody still has access to its products, as our terms explain.
10Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or on the platform before it applies.
